Service Description

This online charcoal drawing series is designed to help artists deepen their understanding of light, contour, and form — the foundational elements of expressive, dimensional drawing. Through guided instruction, reference-based exercises, and thoughtful pacing, participants will learn how light shapes form, how contour lines describe volume, and how to build depth using charcoal with confidence and intention. This is a live, instructor-led online series that will be recorded and made available to registered participants for continued learning and reflection. Each session builds on the last, allowing you to: Revisit demonstrations Continue working at your own pace Deepen your understanding of techniques after class Recordings are intended as learning support, not a replacement. During online sessions, students will explore: How to observe and interpret light sources Identifying highlights, mid-tones, and shadows Using contour and cross-contour to describe form Building depth through layered charcoal techniques Refining drawings without pressure or perfectionism This series is suitable for beginners and early-intermediate artists, including those returning to drawing after time away. No live model is required; all reference images will be provided. Classes are taught in a small-group online setting and balance technical instruction with encouragement, discussion, and space for practice. Participants will leave with a stronger understanding of charcoal drawing fundamentals and greater confidence in their creative process. Option 1: Core Live Series For artists who want strong instruction and structured learning ✔ 4 live, instructor-led sessions (90 minutes each) ✔ Real-time instruction and demos ✔ Guided practice during class ✔ Group discussion and Q&A ✔ Curated reference images ✔ One-time reschedule This option is ideal if you want clear teaching, accountability, and space to practice — while working independently between sessions.
